Given the breadth of the key directions, the Government has ensured that changes to irrigation practices, water use and resource management occur in consultation with all water users and key stakeholders.

Accordingly, the Department has established a Water Forum that includes representatives of various water user sectors and other key stakeholders.

The first meeting of the Forum was held on 15 December 2005.

The Forum is part of a comprehensive community and stakeholder engagement program to ensure that all interested parties are able to have input into the reform process. Opportunities for stakeholders and community members to have their say may include:

  • Workshops and information sessions
  • Public submission periods (on draft policies and discussion papers)
  • Individual stakeholder briefings and presentations
  • Stakeholder and community surveys

These opportunities will be advertised on the Have Your Say section of this web site as they arise.
